Café Rouge

Café Rouge is a French-style Bistro (not to be confused with a Brasserie) which has been serving up authentic French cuisine since the doors to its first restaurant opened in Richmond, London, in 1989.

Karen and Roger Myers set out on a mission to bring real French food and wine to the UK and with over 125 restaurants across the country, it’s safe to say that they have succeeded. So, what can you expect when you pay a visit to Café Rouge?

From the moment you step through the door, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular choice for couples, friends, and families alike. The restaurants, though each with their own personality, offer a warm welcome and a cosy atmosphere that’s perfect for everything from family gatherings to special occasions. In fact, Café Rouge was the favourite hangout for Bridget and her friends in Bridget Jones’ Diary!

At the helm you’ll find Executive chef, Bruno Balle. Bruno keeps a close eye on the kitchen, and the menu and is incredibly proud to source only the very finest, sustainable, and traceable meat, fish, and eggs.

Peruse the menu and you’ll find classically French dishes such as Steak Frites, Poulet Breton, Moules, and Confit de Canard. You’ll also find regional specialities such as the Burgundian Egg Meurette, Crepe au Four, and the mouth-watering Croque Casse-Croute. Of course, no meal would be complete without a dessert, of which there are plenty! Crème Brulee, Tarte aux Pommes, Raspberry Parfait, a cheeseboard… you’ll have to visit more than once to get through them all!

Those with dietary requirements, intolerances, or allergies will find themselves well-catered for at Café Rouge. Many dishes are either already suitable for vegetarians or can be made suitable for vegetarian and gluten-free diets on request.

Families dining at Café Rouge will see that the little ones are cared for, too. A dedicated children’s menu is on offer filled with perfect portions for tiny tums. Dishes include classics such as “bangers et mash” and “le burger” as well as chicken, fish, and pasta dishes.

France is not only renowned for its delicious food but also its wide range of quality wines and Café Rouge doesn’t disappoint. The superb selection of vintages from the finest French vineyards has been handpicked by the resident Master of Wine to perfectly accompany the menu.
